Thurgoland Primary

Class 1

Mrs Stokoe, Mrs Eynon, Mrs Rusdale and Mrs Marrison make up the teaching team in class 1.

In class one, we love learning. We are a team and we look after each other. We try to fill each other’s buckets with kindness and thoughtfulness every day. We all know each other really well and although our class is small in number, we have big hearts and big personalities. We also love bubbles and owls!

We love maths and don’t mind making mistakes because we know that often this is how we learn the trickiest things. We have a lot of fun in maths and use many different types of equipment to help us understand what we are doing.

We love reading! Every week, we read a book together and use it as inspiration for our writing. However, that isn’t the only reading we do. We read books to learn things and enhance our art, science and history learning. We also enjoy sharing our favourite books with the class at story time. We have a fantastic reading corner with lots of cuddly toys, cushions, beanbags and of course, lots of lovely books. Although we enjoy stories, we also love poems and information books too. To help us learn to read books by ourselves, we have fun and active phonics lessons. We are learning new phonemes all the time!

We have lots of enthusiastic adults to help us including our teacher Mrs Stokoe and our teaching assistants: Mrs Eynon, Mrs Rusdale and Mrs Marrison. We also have some other lovely grown-ups who help us in class every week: Mrs Khella, Mrs Moore, Mrs Peat, Mrs Aldis and Mrs Slatter. They especially love listening to us read.
Mrs Stokoe loves to put photographs of what we have been up to on Twitter, so please have a look and follow us.
